Show Nine million fish eggs at hatcheries Well over nine million fish eggs have been received by Department De-partment of Fish and Game hatcheries since last fall in preparation for 1967 distribution distribu-tion to Utah waters. An additional addi-tional two million are yet on order for hatching by midsummer. mid-summer. Of the more than 11 million fish to be raised by Department hatcheries this year, Kokanee salmon, brook, brown and lake trout together account for 2,-186,000 2,-186,000 eggs. Most of the eggs are already hatched and the young are now under the care of fish cultur-ists cultur-ists to be primed for distribution distri-bution to wild waters when their time comes. The task of providing Utah anglers with quality fishing is a year-round job for the men at Department hatcheries. Since the bulk of fish distribution ended last fall, the fish cultur-ists cultur-ists have continued a busy schedule of caring for the many millions of eggs received at the hatcheries over the state. It may be the slack season for the fishermen, but not for the men who provide for our top quality fishing. |
