Show $2000 vacation trip offered in annual membership drive Initial plans for one of the most pretentious membership drives in the history of the Springville art movement, were announced this week by Jack Allen, publicity chairman. The membership goal is set at $15,000 with several big promotion pro-motion projects outlined, in-c'uding in-c'uding a free vacation trip by Western Airlines to Laguna Beach, Calif, giving away of fine pieces of art by leading western artists, a big art ball, where prizes will be announced and several other major events. Mr. Allen said Wednesday that approximately 5000 blanks and letters, soliciting memberships member-ships will go in the mail soon. Many contributors will win pri- zes, the largest of which is the grand sweep-stakes, a $2,000 vacation to the Laguna Beach art festival. The trip will be made by Western Airline and arranged by Deseret - Travel Agency. Paintings and pieces of sculpture sculp-ture by such leading artists as Paul Salisbury, Glen Turner, Rell Francis, Hughes Curtis, Cal Packard, William P. Bird, and Stan Burningham are being contributed in the mammoth membership drive. The Art Ball is planned for April 29 and expected to be one of the most novel and inspiring inspir-ing events of its kind. Some of the old-time cars have been volunteered as taxis for the evening, adding a novel nov-el and unique note to the event. An enthusiastic art promotion promo-tion committee determined to bring Springville and the art movement to the forefront, is working on many other promotion promo-tion ideas which will unfold as the month progresses.
