Springville couple to celebrate golden wedding at open house Mr. and Mrs. George A. Brailsford will celebrate their golden wedding anniversary with an open house Sunday, from 2 until 6 p.m., at the family residence, 367 No. First West, the event being hosted by their family. Prominent in church and civic civ-ic affairs, Mr. and Mrs. Brails ford have made their home in Springville most of their married mar-ried life. They were married March 23, 1917, in Springville, and the ceremony was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Mr. Brailsford is a native of Pleasant Grove, born to Jim and Alice Thorne Brailsford. iis mother died when he was a baby and he was reared by his maternal grandparents in Pleasant Grove. He worked with Utalv Construction as a lineman and helped to construct con-struct the Ironton Steel Mill. He continued working at the steel plant for 17 years as a molder and core maker. He also operated his farm in Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove for a number of years. He is a ward teacher and a high priest. Mrs. Brailsford (Irma) is a native of Orem, born to Thomas Thom-as and Isabella Billings Patten. She spent her early life in that city graduating from high school there. She has taken a prominent part in music circles cir-cles in Springville being a member of the Springville Federated Fed-erated Music Club and participating partici-pating in various programs. She has also served as a chorister chor-ister in Relief Society and other oth-er church auxiliary organizations. organiza-tions. Both are active in Senior Citizen functions and have traveled considerably with the group. The couple has three sons, George Leonard Bralisford of Springville; Blaine Brailsford, Pleasant Grove; and Melvin Jim Brailsford of Orem; also 19 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. An invitation is extended the friends, neighbors and relatives of the guests of honor to attend the open house. They request no gifts. First heavy snow strikes the Great Lakes. |
