An example of the cooperation coopera-tion of townspeople in the current cur-rent campaign to make the city a more beautiful place, was seen this week when Fred Er-ickson, Er-ickson, Scout Round Table Commissioner, offered the services ser-vices of the Scout troops in cleaning unattractive vacant lots. The service clubs In town have also offered to adopt a lot, in the move for a city-wide cleanup. Any organization or individual, who is interested in adopting lots that is cleaning clean-ing it up and caring for it, should get in contact with a member of the City Beautifi-cation Beautifi-cation Board. Other beautification plans include in-clude the planting of the Hobble Hob-ble Creek banks south side, in the area between Main and Center, the project being sponsored spon-sored by the Home Culture and Alpha Beta federated clubs. Springville city employees have aided in the cleanup campaign cam-paign the past few days by burning weeds and other debris along ditch banks iin various parts of town. Students are taking a special spec-ial interest in keeping their school grounds free from litter lit-ter and are being made more conscious of the importance of placing papers and other debris in containers, through a litter- bug flag contest. The flag is presently at Westside School and that school has given notice no-tice that until another school keeps its grounds and school halls cleaner than theirs, they plan to keep the flag. Students will also participate in the city-wide cleanup next weekend raking and cleaning the school grounds and the yards at home during spring vacation. |
