Show More women seek jobs outside home The more education a woman has, the more likely she is to be employed outside the home, according to two new publications publica-tions of the U.S. Department of Labor entitled, "Counseling Girls Toward New Perspectives" Perspec-tives" and the "1965 Handbook on Women Workers." In 1964, 53 per cent of women wo-men 18 years of age and over iWith four years of college were in the labor force, as were 72 per cent of those with five or more years of higher education, educa-tion, Mrs. Mary Dublin Keys'er-ling, Keys'er-ling, Director of the Women's Bureau, U.S. Department of Labor, stated in the report. In sharp contrast, she said, 45 per cent of women who had completed only high school and 31 per cent of those who had not gone beyond the eighth grade held jobs or were actively active-ly seeking them. These participation partici-pation rates remained virtually the same in 1965, Mrs. Keyser-ling Keyser-ling commented. |
