Show id 1 Kennth R. Metcalf named chairman of the United' Fund Drive for Springville area. Chairman listed for UF drive in Springville Kenneth R. Metcalf has been named by Max C. Elliott, 1966-67 1966-67 Campaign Chairman for United Fund of Utah County, and Merrill Bushnell, vice chairman, to direct organization organiza-tion and fund raising for the Springville area. In making this announcement, Mr. Elliott said this appointment is based on Mr. Metcalf's outstanding record of community service. Mr. Metcalf is manager of Berg Mortuary of Springville. He is past president of the Springville Chamber of Commerce Com-merce and the 20-30 Club. He is an active civic club member and has received the Distinguished Distin-guished Service Award from the Junior Chambr of Commerce. Com-merce. He has named Jack Allen, Al-len, Sterling Price and Dr. Richard Miner to assist him in directine- the drive for the downtown business area, retired re-tired persons and home-based businesses, and professional persons. There will be no house to house solicitation; Springville Spring-ville residents will be contacted where they are employed. Mr. Elliott stressed that United Fund is a partnership between the giver and 17 agencies providing a necessary and balanced program of health, welfare, and youth guidance services for our community. com-munity. Each agency touches the lives of hundreds of Springville citizens. Among them are the American Red Cross which served 370 persons in the Springville area last year in life saving, swimming, and home nursing instruction. A total of 842 cc of gamma globulin with a retail value of $3000 was distributed free to persons in need. The Boy Scouts of America serve 880 Springville boys in 44 units. The USO provides wholesome recration and entertainment for 415 servicemen from the south Utah County area. Utah County Coun-ty citizens volunteer once a year to raise funds which are carefully budgeted and allocated allocat-ed by a volunteer Board of Directors. This Board, representing repre-senting all phases of business and industry in Utah County, also assists agencies to plan and coordinate services to insure in-sure the most efficient use of your contributions. Fund raising rais-ing and administrative costs of United Fund of Utah County are a small fraction of national averages for agencies conducting conduc-ting separate drives. United Fund of Utah County Coun-ty is owned and operated by Utah County citizens. "It is our responsibility to do our part to insure that the important impor-tant services to our community are adequately supported next year," Mr. Elliott said. |
