Show Talk on Egypt enjoyed by club The Cultural Arts Club met wedding of Mrs. Smoot's sister Mary Jane Bird, who will be married to Grant H. Palfrey-man, Palfrey-man, Friday. at tne nome or Margaret iioia-away iioia-away with Mrs'. Weldon Taylor telling of their families experiences exper-iences in Egypt. Dr. Weldon Taylor was sent there as a consultant for the Ford Foundation Foun-dation for Egyptian business management and development. Mrs. Taylor showed slides of all the country and the interesting inter-esting places which they were able to visit while there. There is a definite shortage of food in certain areas; yet they have many fruit stands and display a good variety of fruits. The citrus fruits are exceptionally good the year round. The Nile River runs the full length of Egypt and is a beautiful beau-tiful blue except during the flood season when it is a dirty brown. The people are grateful for the flooding of the Nile at this time of the year May to September because of the good fertile silt that comes from the river and deposits it on the land for better crops. The family also visited the St. Katherines Monestery built on the mountain where it is claimed Moses received the Ten Commandments. The Monks have built hundreds of steps to the top of the mountain. On the way up one can ride a camel, but the trip down is more comfortable to walk. A short business meeting was onducted by President La-Vern La-Vern Larsen with Wanda Gibbs reading the club collect. A musical number was furnished fur-nished by Nora Holdaway. A light lunch was served to 15 members and Mrs. Taylor. Dr. and Mrs. L. Douglas Smoot and daughters, Annalee, LaCinda and Michelle came from their home in Redlands, Calif., last Friday to spend a few days with relatives and friends here and in Provo.
