Show 1 Pesticide must I be stored to prevent fire J Pesticides should be stored in such a manner as to pre-- pre-- vent storage fires, or Injuries J or fatalaties which may result I from such fires. Some storage J guidelines are as follows: 1 Store all pesticide chemicals 1 in one place, preferably in a 1 separate building or cabinet. 1 Keep storage buildings or 1 cabinets locked. I Store pesticides away from i stoves, heaters, hot pipes and J chimneys. I For the benefit of firemen I in case of fire, have a sign on i the shed or cabinet door stat-i stat-i ing that pesticides are stored I there. This will aid the firemen i as they strive to bring the jr fire under control. B All concerned should keep ft out of the smoke when pesti-jj pesti-jj cide chemicals are burning. Q Local emergency personnel fj and doctors should have infor-jf infor-jf mation available on symptoms, J antidotes and treatments of j pesticide poisonings. J Prevent contamination of water supplies, adjacent crops, J animals and stored products I from indiscriminate use of water wa-ter on a fire or by drainage of contaminated water from a fire area. Employees .and family members mem-bers should be instructed as to the dangers associated with the burning of pesticides. After 1 a fire, the remalins should be carefully burried or decontaminated. Pesticides in storage not completely destroyed by a fire i should not be used without i careful checking for identity i and usefulness. |
