"own area. Most of them hoping to get temporary summer jobs but getting those jobs may be the difference between be-tween being able to go back to school or not going to school. It is good for young people to work during the summer and bad to deny them the chance. Many of the jobs in the area are being taken by individuals who have been employed through the winter months and are now taking the temporary summer jobs in which college boys could serve as well, it is pointed out. The youth employment committee com-mittee is asking all prospec-ive prospec-ive employers regardless of the type of work, to consider the young people for a job. It will curb delinquency and improve the morale of young people in the area, they point out. One employer stated that his reason for not hiring young people on certain jobs was their tendency to "goof off." Young people should realize also al-so that when they are employed, em-ployed, they have a responsibility responsi-bility to the employer; that they should give a day's service ser-vice for a day's pay. While a few youngsters may idle away their time, there are hundreds of others who will put their full effort on the job and give a full day's service, it was noted. Employers with big jobs are urged to give young people a chance and those with small jobs such as baby sitting, lawn mowing, housework and farm work will be doing a service ser-vice to the general public to employ a young boy or girl. If you're successful, you keep fighting the bizarre sense that your feeling about being special is true. But life keeps tossing you reminders that you aren't special. |
