Show Democrats represented at Alpha Beta meet Alpha Beta Club members entertained at the home of Mrs. S. Thomas Smith, heard a pre-election report on candidates candi-dates on the Democratic ticket at their meetiing Friday afternoon. after-noon. Attorney Allen B. Sorensen, candidate for re-election as district attorney, was the speaker. He named the various candidates and listed briefly what each had done or what he stood for, and then commented com-mented generally on politics and government. Politics, he said, is what Americans make it. We are entitled to criticize only if we do something to improve im-prove the situation, he noted, as he expressed the opinion that we must tolerate differences differ-ences of opinion. He described politics as a complicated science. sci-ence. At the close of the meeting, questions were asked and answered an-swered and the' speaker discussed dis-cussed briefly the Freeport Amendment. Mrs. Smith conducted the meeting which began with group singing led by Mrs. Earl Condie. Mrs. W. C. Harrison read an appropriate essay entitled en-titled "I Am a Nation," to make everyone more aware of the freedoms of this country. The speaker was introduced by Mrs. Edward Clyde, who arranged the program.
