Show Springville club woman appointed to responsible post with GFWC Mrs. Harold Christensen of his city has been appointed Conservation chairman in the General Federation of Women's Wo-men's Clubs, it was announced ' this week, a position she held previously in 1958-62. For the past two years, she has been chairman of the Revisions Committee of the GFWC. Within the conservation department, de-partment, she is division chairman chair-man of recreation. The object of the department is to help with replanting forests promoting pro-moting parks and recreational areas for campin, picnicing, swimming, skiing, hiking, hunting and fishing for families fami-lies and visitors and sponsoring sponsor-ing adequate recreational facilities fa-cilities for young people. Mrs. Christensen made an outstanding record in conservation conser-vation during her previous service in the GFWC. She prepared pre-pared a suggested program to be used by clubwomen throughout the nation and at the close of GFWC conventions conven-tions in Los Angeles in 1959, was responsible for a tour through the Los Angeles National Na-tional Forest. In 1960, she directed di-rected a tour in the interest of water supply and water pol lution following the convention conven-tion in Washington D. C. While she was president of the Utah Federation of Wo-mens Wo-mens Clubs, the first Youth Forest was planted. Only this spring, the Sixth Youth Forest For-est was planted on Shingle Mill Ridge in Hobble Creek Canyon, under the sponsorship of the Federated clubs in this district and the forest was dedicated to Mrs. Christensen. She represented the GFWC in Chicago at a water pollution pollu-tion conference sponsored by De Paul University and discussed dis-cussed the subject, "Decreased use of water for recreation can affect the national economy," econ-omy," serveral years ago. A member of the Advisory Council of the "Outdoor Recreation Rec-reation Resources Review Commission," she is now serving serv-ing on the Citizens Committee for the Outdoor Recreation Resources Re-sources Review Commission report. During 1958-62 she was honorary vice president of the American Forestry Association and is a member of the advisory advis-ory council, Uinta National Forest.
