Show Unemployment in Utah takes sudden increase Influenced by the management manage-ment labor dispute in Utah's primary metals industries, new unemployment totaled 2,025 during the week ended July 11, reported LeRue Thurston, manager of the Provo Employment Employ-ment Security Office. The week before the number of initial claims for unemployment unemploy-ment benefits was 941. However, continuing unemployment unem-ployment dipped slightly, with 2.49 per cent of the state's insured in-sured work force claiming unemployment, un-employment, compared to 2.50 per cent the week before. The seasonally adjusted jobless job-less ratio, at 3.1 per cent, was off a tenth during the week. Jobs made available through employment security offices totaled 952 and were bolstered by calls for nearly 200 forest fire fighters in Central Utah during the week. Spot shortages of farm workers were reported in the Provo, Price and Cedar City areas, Mr. Thurston said. |
