Show Rams squeeze by CHS by three PAROWAN -The girls from Parowan High and Cedar High battled it out this week in a - nondivisional basketball contest held in Parowan, and the Rams took the contest by three points. Cedar was leading 19-16 at halftime and both teams were in foul trouble. Misti Bentley, Parowan's leading player, and the high scorer in the game at half-time had four fouls at the midgame break. During the third quarter, both teams battled close but Cedar still held on to a slim lead going into the fourth quarter. CHS's Lisa Willmanfouled-out during the third period of play. The lady Reds had trouble scoring during the fourth quarter while Misti Bentley went on to score 12 alone. Parowan pulled ahead and won the game by three points at the final buzzer. Misti Bentley led all scorers wUh 24 points. Leadingne scoring for Cedar High was Cathy Corry with 12. Cedar's JV team defeated the Parowan JV by one point. Leading scorers were Paula Sawyer and Dolene Leavitt- with 8 points each. Earlier in the week, Cedar had defeated Dixie to move into a first place region eight tie with Carbon. Carbon and Cedar will meet in Carbon today. |
