Show Cedar scouts win tourney Jeff Heap, Jones, Ben Felix, and Bohne took first place in the 880-yard relay. Nakken, Jones, Felix and Green combined to take the gold in the three-on-three basketball competition. "I was pleased, of course, with how many awards we won," stated Larry Bohne "but what J was really impressive i was the way the kids " were united and how they j supported each other." EPHRAIM Cedar City Varsity Scouts participated in the Varsity Scout Games June 3,. 4, and 5 at Snow College. The games were sponsored by the Utah National Parks Council. Robert Nakken, K.C. Jones, Ben Felix, Nathan Ludwig, Derek Bohne, Darren Green, J.L. Lund and Jeff Heap represented repre-sented Cedar at the games which hosted over 200 Utah scouts, plus their advisors. The eight Cedar City youths captured the first place team title due to their many individual accomplishments. J.L. Lund took the silver medal in public speaking; while Darren Green took the bronze in this event. Green also achieved a first place wrestling award. Nathan Ludwig's ability ab-ility to play chess earned him a silver medal. Robert Nakken took first place in the one-on-one competition and also took gold in the broad jump, the football throw, the Softball throw and the horseshoes. Nakken took a silver medal in the high jump and a bronze in the standing broad jump as well. K.C. Jones was a gold medal winner in the shot put, the standing long jump and the high jomp. Jones also claimed a silver award for the Softball throw. Derek Bohne took a gold medal in the 220-yard 220-yard run and a silver medal in the free throw competition. The eight men combined com-bined their efforts to capture the silver medal in volleyball. |
