"We have advanced ad-vanced from thirteenth place last year to eighth this year, doing very well, we think, for a school which has been in CEDA competition only two years.'' The outlook for next years's CEDA squad is very good, Smith said. "With the exception of senior Craig LeDuc, who will graduate June 5, the majority of the squad will return next year." Karen Reeves, Cedar City, and Kim-michelle DeAdder, Orem, finished preliminary CEDA rounds with a 5-1 record, losing in double-octas to the team from the Air Force Academy. If the SUSC sophomores had won the round, SUSC and the Air Force would be reversed in ranking, Smith said. Craig LeDuc, West Jordan, and Scott Pullan, a sophomore from South Jordan, finished preliminaries with a 4-2 record. They won their double-octa round and dropped to a team in octa-iinals octa-iinals from UCLA The third SUSC team, Tove Ann Morton, a sophomore from Springville, and Annette Chilinski, a junior from West Jordan, had a 3-3 record out of preliminaries. They won their double-octa round and lost in the octa-finals to a team from Berkeley. "We are pleasesd with CEDA competition this year," Smith said. |
