Show Historic box opened Memorabilia from 50 years ago were recently dusted off and once again exposed to the light of daanditemsfrom today were selected to be sealed for 50 more years, when they will again be dusted off and on display. The occasion was the opening of the Parowan Stake Relief Society 1930 Historic Box Dec. 23, one of many activities during the sesquincentennial I year of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Latter-day Saints. The box had been sealed exactly fifty years ago. When opened last week, a large crowd was awed at what it contained. con-tained. Items included a nistory of each of the eleven ward Relief Societies, letters to descendants, messages from the 1930 stake of-ficers of-ficers to the 1980 stake officers, histories and messages from the 1930 Primary officers and 1930 editions of the Parowan Times and Iron County Record. Stake President J. Phillip Hanks presided at the program, which was conducted by Peggy H. Benson, Parowan Stake Relief Society president. Items for a similar box, to be sealed later, were on display during and alter the program. The box will not be opened until the year 2030, when the LDS Church will be 200 yearsoll |
