Show 30 cattle dead in flash flood PAROWAN--Misfortune hit Alma Evans, Parowan, when a rainstorm left 30 head of his cattle dead in the Little Salt Lake, outside of Parowan. The cattle had been stranded at the lake a week, before they were sighted by an aircraft flying over the area. County Deputy Roden Williams then responded to the call and relayed the sighting to the Evan's. They then gathered all the cable wire they could find, a truck hood, a backhoe and headed to the lake. When they arrived, only six of the 33 head of cattle were still alive. They were able to drag four out that night and one the following morning. Only three of the six survived the ordeal. or-deal. The Little Salt Lake had been dried up due to the dryer then normal summer. Apparently, the cattle had been crossing Ihe Little Salt Lake to feed on the other side, when a thunderstorm and an accompanying flash Hood hit them, according to Evans. Mark Evans, Evan's son, reported that most of the rattle had drowned the first night. |
