Beaver High School grabbed grab-bed their first league victory vic-tory last Friday over the Enterprise Wolves, climbing out of the cellar and giving the Beavers a needed shot of adrenalin. Cort Clove of the Wolves connected on two quick grabs ' to give the visitors a 4-0 lead and the momentum for the first quarter. Enterprise led 16-14 after the first eight minutes. The Beavers continued to chase and managed to capture cap-ture the lead midway through the second period. Junior center Shane Blackner worked his way free from the defense and gave the Beavers Bea-vers the offensive surge to land a 35-32 half time lead for the Beavers. After Intermission and the scoreboard signaled for play to resume, the Beaver defense de-fense tightened and the offense of-fense picked up the tempo surging to a ten point lead but turnovers quickly intervened inter-vened and the Beaver lead dissipated to three points after af-ter 24 minutes of action. The Beavers were quickly revived by several fast breaks and assists from sophomore Kelly Smith and junior Mike Smith. Midway through the fourth quarter the Beavers were on top again by ten. Shane Blackner was assessed as-sessed with his fifth foul, giving the Wolves room to work inside and also rebounding re-bounding power. Enterprise managed to cut the lead to six at the buzzer, but the Smith boys, Dave Crook, Daniel Robinson and Chad Dalton continued the scoring and applying the defensive de-fensive pressure. Blackner led all Beaver scorers with 17, Dalton added 14, Robinson 10, Crook 8 for the Beavers. Jack Moyle canned 13 for Enterprise followed by 14 from Doug Truman.
