Show testy 8p3Ei3e feip;p MA i EJossireuiG One of the biggest crowds ever watched another fine M inersville Fourth of July parade Monday, and then enjoyed en-joyed a program that was both inspirational and fun. The Minersville Ward then laid out a fabulous feed of barbequed beef, a variety of salads, baked beans anddes- sert. And no one went away hungry. Most folks then settled down in the park to watch the kids race, but a welcome rain soon forced them inside for a few bouts of boxing. When the sun shown again, everyone headed for the stock-show grounds and the kids' rodeo. It was a fabulous fabu-lous fun day for everyone. Janette Hollingshead rode the Auxiliary float as Goddess God-dess of Liberty. The float was judged the most beautiful beauti-ful in the parade. It was followed by the Beaver County Fair Queen, with Queen Kim attended by Julie Ann Hutchings and Carol Albrecht. Allan Wood led the parade with the flag and was followed follow-ed by a herd of kids on horses and bicycles. Floats winning prizes were: BEAUTY: First, the Goddess God-dess of Liberty Float, built by the American Legion Auxiliary. Aux-iliary. Second, the Relief Society; Third, Minersville Miners-ville Feed. ORIGINALITY: First, Dan and Heber's Service; Second, Literary Society and Third, Rema's Beauty Salon. PATRIOTIC: First, M. I. A., Second, D & W Merc, and Third, Pryor's Snack Bar. The rain, which has become be-come customary in recent years, didn't dampen the spirit of the day as activities were just moved inside. The boxing and rodeo made a welcome wel-come addition to the days events and foiled the weatherman. weath-erman. The program, which carried car-ried a weighty patriotic theme, also had some lighter light-er moments, particularly the three separate groups of dancing girls. The rodeo provided a fun time for the kids, riding calves and other events. It was a good day for the 201st anniversary of our nation's birth. |
