Show Gilford quilt is in finals Thirty -three original quilt designers have been chosen as finalists In the Bicentennial Bicenten-nial Heirloom Quilt Contest sponsored by UtahState University. Uni-versity. Among the 33 finalists Is the Milford 2nd WardinMil-ford. WardinMil-ford. The quilts will be on dls- ' play at the university in conjunction con-junction with the annual Fes -tlval of the American West, July 30- August 7, In the Health, Physical Education and Recreation Building, room 213. The three top winners of the contest will be announced announc-ed the first day with $500V going to the person winning first place, $300 to second ! place, and $200 to third place. j The finalists were select- j ed from 147 entries. For the competition, seven areas j I were designated in the state j and each area was eligible to submit its five best quilts. , Following the exhibit at USU, the quilts will be dis- j played in the State Capitol ' Building. . ' The contest was open to all i Utah residents or students j attending Utah schools. The j quilts had to be of original i j design and hand quilted, dou- j ble bed size or larger. j i The quilt made by Milford j 2nd Ward was appliqued ea- j gles, shield, olive branch, i arrows and stars on a white background.
