Show It was a great Fourth at Minersville, and though we're almost used to Bill Wood's barbecued beef, and the salad, beans and other acutrements normally prepared pre-pared by those Minersville women, the baked potatoes were an added treat that set the me al off. -0- Monies taken in (and you paid what you felt it was worth) were clear profit as all food and cooking, etc., were donated. Bishop Limb donated the beef and the rest of the community pitched in to furnish the rest. All proceeds pro-ceeds went to the church, which is supposed tobecom-pleted tobecom-pleted this month and moved into. -0- However, dedication is still some ways off, as another an-other $27,000 must be raised to complete paying for the new church. We could tell the Bishopric Bishop-ric how to increase their revenue on a meal like last Friday. Put your collection plate at the end of the line, just after they fill their plate. It's awfully hard to shortchange short-change the church with a plate running over with food. Course, most we're sure, gave from the heart. We saw checks into three figures, fig-ures, and you've got to admit ad-mit that's a fair amount, even for that kind of meal. Others who may not have eaten in Minersville before and who didn't have prior knowledge of the feed they put on, can drop a little something some-thing extra in the collection plate Sunday. -0- We always enjoy the Minersville Min-ersville 4th, and shoot pictures pic-tures of the parade for the News wfriile we're there. This year was no different, but our film broke and we missed getting a picture of the top patriotic float, that of Pryor Merc. Our apologies for not having the picture, and our congratulations for a fine float. -0- The Fourth was the kick-off kick-off of the two-year Bicentennial Bicenten-nial celebration. Rep. Howe called us the other day to see what we thought of his writing an historical column. We suggested he could better bet-ter use his time to keep check on that huge bureaucracy we call Washington, D. C. and all its little fingers that bull their way over the little guy. -0- Besides, we figured he'd hire a ghost writer and spend huge sums of taxpayer dollars, dol-lars, and there's plenty of us writers who will do the same thing for nothing. We get offers enough to fill the waste basket daily. He didn't take our advice however, as we saw his historical his-torical spot in most of the other weeklies in the state. Since this can in no way be a me mod of informing his constituents, because all information in-formation is 200 years old, , we certainly hope he didn't abuse his franking privilege in mailing his ghost writer's material to those papers he conned into using it. So if you see this bit of wit and wisdom under the by-line of Rep. Allan Howe, drop him a note and ask him how many taxpayer dollars it cost you. -0- We're short a Milford correspondent cor-respondent again.
