Show That was Garland Talt's excellent shooting form in last week's paper - not Arlan Mayer, as the outline stated. Actually, we didn't even have a picture of Arlan, but did have one of his big brother, Alan. A shortage of space forced us to choose what we considered the better picture of the two, leaving Alan out and running Garland. In the confusion, the wrong cutllne was run under the picture. -0- Talk about rubbing salt In a wound. The Beavers took it on the basketball chin last week. Meeting both Kanab and Milford in the space of two days, they lost to Kanab Wednesday, Milford 8th and 9th on Thursday, and to the Tiger varsity and Junior varsity on Friday. That's as tough a schedule as anyone any-one could come up against. -0- While we're on basketball, it's time to jog the State High School Activities Ass'n. about the state tournament trophies. We were appalled last year after the championship champion-ship game to learn that trophies tro-phies would be presented to only first, second, and consolation, con-solation, and that no presentation presen-tation would be made at the tournament. -0- We believe that all eight places in all four state basketball bas-ketball tournaments deserve a trophy to take home. And we mean to take home! It should be presented right there, immediately after the championship game. We've talked to coaches and players play-ers and they agree. Many fans have Indicated like sen-taments. sen-taments. -0- Certainly, any school qualifying qua-lifying for the tournament has already received plaudits plau-dits in their region. But those who survive to capture one of the eight places, should have a permanent remembrance remem-brance to return to their school, In the form of a trophy. Many fans were disappointed disap-pointed last year and previous pre-vious years when trophies were not presented after the tournament. Many, like us, stayed through the final game just for that tremendous moment, mo-ment, that didn't come. -0- Let your local school administrators ad-ministrators know how you feel. They'll have a method of input or tell you how to make your own input. -0- Well, we had our first snowstorm , - not enough for skiing or snow-mobillng, but a taste. While the snow didn't stay, the cold did and it's been quite nippy around the county. coun-ty. Anyway, it's pretty hard to get into the Christmas spirit when you're still In shirtsleeves. -0- Speaking of Christmas; if you're hard up for a present for any member of the family fam-ily why not give them a year's membership in the Milford Golf Ass'n.? Flay should start on five holes this spring, and then it will be like money in the bank. It'll also speed the day when the last four holes and the club house and driving range are completed. Do It now! -0- Recelved a nice .letter from Bishop Earl Limb, Ml-nersville Ml-nersville LDS Church, thanking us, and indirectly all our subscribers, new or old, who took part in our recent re-cent subscription drive. It would not have been possible pos-sible for the News to make this significant contribution, without its subscribers. We also wish to thank the hardest hard-est worker of all, Mrs. Daisy Gilllns, our Mlnersville correspondent, cor-respondent, and Miss Debbie Carter, who received a styling styl-ing blow -comb for selling the most subscriptions among the MIA girls. |
