Ramp-ton Ramp-ton today announced the appointment ap-pointment of R. LaVaun Cox as the chairman of the State Road Commission. He will succeed Clem Church of Panguitch who has served as chairman since 1969. Commissioner Church said, "The demands of my business make it increasingly increasing-ly difficult for me to come the long distance as often as necessary. I have also been chairman for six years and feel, that someone else should have the pleasure of ; serving in this capacity." The governor accepted with regret Mr. Church's resig- nation as chairman and is pleased that he will finish his term as commissioner. Governor Rampton commented com-mented that during Mr. Church's years as chairman he worked to establish a professional pro-fessional organization often working from a limited revenue rev-enue base. His excellent working relationship with the other commissioners has resulted in many accomplishments accom-plishments and effective pol-cly pol-cly decisions by the Commission. Com-mission. Chairman Cox expressed his appreciation to Commissioner Commis-sioner Church for the leadership lead-ership example he had given and to the State Road Commission Com-mission for their confidence in his ability. He looks forward for-ward to the opportunity of serving in his new capacity. The new chairman has been a member of the State Road Commission since May, 1968 when he was appointed ap-pointed by Governor Rampton Ramp-ton to fill the unexpired term of Ellas Strong. Mr. Cox was appointed to a full six year term in 1971. He has been a member of the Utah State Senate, on boards and advisory ad-visory groups for state and local organizations.
