Show By the time you read this the Wilsons should be at the World's Fair in Spokane or on their way home. n- News -papering is a confining con-fining business, and the whole family needed to get away from it for a few days. We published this edition early, with fine cooperation from our advertisers, and expect to be back in time to publish the next Beaver County News on time. -0- It's a struggle to get a paper out each week when your 'staff consists of Mom, Dad, and all the kids. Ex-peclally Ex-peclally in a town as active as Milford. -0- For us it seems the Centennial Cen-tennial started the ball rolling roll-ing and it's caught momentum moment-um with each revolution. The last two years have been full - and the prospects for the future look great for Milford with the geothermal and alunite developments. -0- With It all, it's kept us busy and a vacation was really needed to restore our perspective and regain our sanity. Local news which was omitted due to the early publication pub-lication , will be in the next Issue. We appreciate your cooperation. -0- Cooperation can sometimes some-times be a dangerous thing. We cannot help but remember re-member when President Kennedy was struck down by an assassin's bullet. The atmosphere of cooperation coop-eration between President Johnson and Congress was unequalled before inhostory. With a vow to carry forward ! JFK's programs, President Johnson and the Congress j passed sweeping legislation in many areas. -0- While the Intent was good -some of this legislation was given little thought. A negative nega-tive vote was nearly considered consid-ered sacrilege to the memory mem-ory of JFK. -0- The haste, and ill planning of those days is still with us. Not all was bad - but there was much that wasn't good. Some harmful, some meaningless mean-ingless and worthless. -0- With President Nixon's resignation and Ford's unprecedented un-precedented catapult into the Presidency, some of the same urgency exists. In an effort to bury the past, and get on to better things, Congress and President Presi-dent Ford may both be too willing to cooperate. -0- We hope the next two years will see caution and moderation modera-tion coupled with that spirit of cooperation. We cannot afford af-ford mistakes. Our economy and faith are shaken. -0- The nations of the free world, as well as those who are not so free, will be watching for signs of weakness. weak-ness. All will watch to see if this great country will falter falt-er or stand erect and go on to take our place in the leadership lead-ership of the world. -0- The most significant item of President Ford's speech to Congress on Monday, August Au-gust 12th, was, "I'm not looking for a honeymoon, but a good marriage." A good marriage is give and take, with respect for each party. There are few good marriages that don't have their trials. The successful suc-cessful ones are those that work for the best interest of the family. -0- President Ford has acquired ac-quired a much bigger family. |
