Show COUNCIL MEETS WITH AGENCIES ON SEWER-WATER Mayor Mayer, city council-men, council-men, civic leaders and other interested citizens got an. education edu-cation in "It's not. what you say, but hrw you say it" from Dave Allred, State Director of EDA (Economic Development Administration) and Tom Dun-lap, Dun-lap, District Director of EDA from Texas. The problem at hand was whether or not EDA would be able to give the city financial assistance in their proposed sewer and. water project. The lesson on how to put your question came about because, be-cause, EDA couldn't care less about sewer and water, but are interested only in jobs. So, it was necessary to phrase questions in a vein that would project possible and probable jobs that would or could be denied if the project fails. It's too early to tell whether Milford passed or failed the test. FHA in the form of Elmo Spencer, of Beaver and Lee Hawka, FHA state engineer were thrr to answer questions, Jim K'' -Vcrman, Call Engineering; Engineer-ing; Ray Norton, Dept. of Employment Em-ployment Security and Bruce Armstrong of the Four Comers Commssio.n. All these agencies in one way or another have a stake, (I should say application) applica-tion) in Milford's sewer and watc prcjec;. A great doal of hope for EDA money 1: based on what is hoped will be expansion by Essex. Supporting roles are played by the new sewing factory fac-tory which is scheduled to open Jan. 4th with 8-10 employees, increased tcurism and a projected pro-jected slaughterhouse. |
