Show Pioneer Health Nurse Passes In Minersville Mrs. Lucy Pearl Pocock Williams, Wil-liams, 77, died of a heart attack on Dec. 18, 1971. She was born to Charles and Anna Wilhel-mina Wilhel-mina Isgreen Pocock on January Jan-uary 4, 1894 in Tooele, Utah. She attended Tooele elementary elemen-tary and secondary schools. She entered the L.D.S. Nursing Nurs-ing School in Sept. 1918 and was graduated in Oct. 1921, afterwhich a post graduate course in obstetrics at the Chicago Chi-cago Lying-in Hospital was completed allowing her to teach obstetrics and supervise the obstetrical ob-stetrical department at the LDS hospital for one year. In 1923 she was called by the General Authorities to fill another post graduate course in administration administra-tion for hospitals, and on her return was set apart by Apostle Melvin J. Ballard to become Supt. of Nursts at the LDS School oil Nursing in Salt Lake City. She honorably held this position for the graduating classes of 1924. 25, and 27. On July 14, 1927 she married Franklin D. Williams, a prominent prom-inent livestock man of Minersville, Miners-ville, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. It is only fitting to mention that Mr. Williams took this young bride to his home in Minersville where six motherless moth-erless children, welcomed her, after which she had five children chil-dren of hei own. In addition to her role of wife and mother, she was commissioned com-missioned by the White House to be Public Health Nurse of Beaver Co. and held this position po-sition for 12 years. Due to the Lucy Pearl Pocock Williams shortage of doctors in the Southern Sou-thern Utah area, her medical training and ability was used extensively. Out of necessity she has delivered 25 babies in Minersville without a doctor. During her entire life she was extremely active in all of the organizations of the LDS church, holding many executive and teaching positions. At the time of her death she was the sec.-treas. of the Susan Camp Daughters of Utah Pioneers and a relief society visiting teacher. teach-er. She has been the Public Librarian Li-brarian in Minersville for 10 years where her ability to instruct in-struct and advise the youth in every respect has been immeasurable. immeas-urable. Two brothers and two sisters; Don Pocock, Mrs. S. W. (Ada) Clark, and Mrs. Clarenca (Gilda) Cochran of Tooele and Mr. Lester Les-ter Pocock of Logan. She was preceded in death by her husband hus-band and four sons: Spence, Max, Russel and Franklin D. j:. Funeral services were held Dec. 22, 1971 at 1:00 P.M. in, the Minersville Chapel.
