Show 7-DAY ADVENTS START WORLD CHURCH APPEAL The Milford Seventh-day Ad-ventist Ad-ventist Church begins its 67th' annual World Service Appeal today. Members of the local congregation, con-gregation, will make door to door visits during the next five weeks. These volunteer solicitors solicit-ors will carry official credentials creden-tials issued by the church, says pastor Gordon Frase. They are donating their time, as well af contributing financially to the appeal. Funds solicited will go toward to-ward extending medical, welfare, wel-fare, and educational services in 190 countries, including the United States. On a world wide basis, the church last year aidec more than 8.3 million persons, distributed more than 11.4 million mil-lion articles of clothing, donated do-nated 9.5 million hours of volunteer vol-unteer time and contributed $4.2 million in food and cash to the church's welfare program. pro-gram. The denomination operates 135 hospitals and sanitariums and 170 dispensaries and clinics, clin-ics, which treated more than 4.1 million persons last year. It supports a school system enrolling en-rolling 384,000 students and publishes literature in 260 languages and dialects. |
