Show POT IN BOOT TOPS TRASH TAKE The Summer Bology class of the Milford High School, under the direction of instructor Dale Jensen, undertook the. task of cleaning the right-of-way along the highway past the airport Tuesday morning. They not only pick up trash but counted what they picked up until they ran out of bags to put it into. They then proceeded pro-ceeded to count the remainder out as far as the 5 mile dam. The big surprise was when one of the students picked up an old boot, and a plastice sack fell out with a handful of what appeared to be (pot) marijuana still rasonably fresh, (so it looked), as it was handed over to local authorities for positive identification. As was to be expected, they found more beer cans than anything any-thing else. With Olympia leading lead-ing with 311 and Coors, 206, running a close second. Total all beer cans, 813. Beer bottles were the next leading offender, and the leaders lead-ers swapping place with Coors at 312 and Olympia 140. Total beer bottles stood at 518. The question that comes to mind is: Are there more Coors, and Olympia beer drinkers in the Milford area, or are Coors and Olympia beer drinkers just sloppier than those who drink other brands? The gist of the survey was, that there's a lot more thash along the road than we came prepared for, said Jensen. We need to come back with a truck. The totals ran as follows: Beer cans, 813; Pop cans, 93; Beer bottles, 518; Pop bottles, 42; Misc. cans, 125; Paper cups, 162; Cigarette pkgs. 86 and Beer cartons, 56. Almost anything could be found if you traveled enough roadway, Jensen said. Class members who participated partici-pated were: Jean Bradshaw, Lonni Price, Ramee Stoddard, Annette Murie, Steven. Johnson, Kyle Jones, Robert Edwards, Richard Vineyard, Kevin Brox and Chuck Birdsong. |
