Show TWO PLANES LOST, PASSENGERS SAFE Milford was the focal point for a search and rescue operation oper-ation last Sunday, when two light planes, en route from Salt Lake to California, were missing. miss-ing. Sheriff Mel Tait alerted the Jeep Patrol and had them on standby basis, waiting for word rfom air searchers. Mr. and Mrs. Myron Quinton of Lancaster, Cal., were "rescued" "res-cued" by a sheepherder 90 miles south of Ely the following follow-ing day. They had landed their light plane during heavy thundarshowers, and bent the propeller when tumbleweeds forced the plane into a ditch. Army Captain and Mrs. Alan C. Conker landed their craft on Mormon Mesa, walked to a deserted mining camp, and cattlemen took them to Mes-quite, Mes-quite, Nev., the next day. |
