Show MILFORD RESIDENTS HEAR PLEA TO 'CLEAN UP FOR THE GOVERNOR' "Clean Up for the Governor" wi'l be the theme of Milford's spring clean-up campaign, according to Mrs. Hilda Shields, chairman of the clean-up committee of the Milford Industrial Development Foundation. M'lfcrd Mnyor Gene Mayer rsked the Foundation to sponsor the spring clean-up, normally held later in the yoar but set ahead a month to present a mcn attractive appearance when Gov. Calvin i L. Rampton visits the community commun-ity on March 11. The Governor has accepted an invitation to attend a special spe-cial industrial development meeting, at which the Milford Industrial Develcpment Foundation Foun-dation group will make an offer of-fer to American Tel and Tel officials for their large brick building, formerly a "booster station," which will be abandoned aban-doned during 1970. Arrangements have been made through John Beitz, city councilman, for the city crews to make special pickups of debris placed near their garbage gar-bage cans Monday and Thursday, Thurs-day, and Friday the crews will use an open-bed truck to pick up tree limbs, lumber, old furniture, and other "junk" which cannot be boxed. Councilman Coun-cilman Beitz asked that such j material be placed near the regular garbage cans, so that no errors will be made by the pickup crews: Mrs. Shields issued the following fol-lowing statement: "We're having California weather but need to get out and enjoy our "better than California Cal-ifornia air." Once again, it's time to get out the old rake! "Mayor Mayer informed me Governor Rampton would pay us a visit March 11th and asked that we have a clean-up next week. Again, would the Block Chairmen who officiated last year work with your neighbors and get the yards, alleys and streets cleaned of garbage, limbs and debris? "I'm sure we all have enough civic pride to warn our town to be clean. It is up to all of the people to work. There is nothing more aggravating than having junk from a neighbor's alley or yard blow onto your's . after your's is cleaned of debris. de-bris. "Would the owners of vacant Continued on Back Page HERE'S MORE ABOUT q CLEAN-UP Continued from Page One properties please have them clean, or clean them. It is to your advantage then they probably won't remain vacant. "Now is a good time to clean out dead weeds, then later this spring it will be possible to keep them mowed or kill them with spray. Good weed control con-trol is the finishing touch to a beautiful town. "Sally Rose says 'We can be proud of the highway south of Milford. The county road crew is doing a fine weed burning, clean-up job and deserve a pat on the back.' Just because we're off the main highway doesn't mean we're in the dumps. Let's give Milford a "face lifting" and! be proud of Our Home Town!" |
