' i i f '., Mrs. Sophia Johnson SERVICES TO BE HELD FRIDAY FOR SOPHIA JOHNSON Funeral services will b3 con-, con-, ducted at 2 p v : the -Milford Methodist Church for Mrs. Greta Sophia Carlson Johnson, 86. who died Wednesday Wed-nesday morning in the Milford Valley Memorial Hospital of causes incident to age. Mrs. Johnson was born July 12, 1882. in Kristinastad Bagsa, Finland. She married Arvid Johnson Oct. 21, 1917, in Salt Lake. He died Nov. 21, 1937. She was a member of the Methodist Church. Mrs. Johnson came to America Amer-ica at the age of 27 to care for a sister who was ill, an lived in Michigan. She later joined her father in Vermont, who had come to America in 1892. Mr. Johnson was also a native na-tive of Finland, and came to America to marry Mrs. Johnson. John-son. They moved to Milford, where Mr. Johnson was employed em-ployed as a miner, and later they homesteaded southwest of Milford. They adopted Arthur Johnson when he was 5 months of age. When Arthur was 10, Mr. Johnson died suddenly, and she suported herself and son by doing housework for neighbors, and working in the school lunch program. She made and sold hundreds of woven rugs, made on a loom her husband had built when they were first married. The loom still stands in her home. In 1965 she entered the Senior Sen-ior Citizen Center at the Milford Mil-ford Valley Memorial Hospital, j and lived there until the time of her death. She is survived by her son Arthur J., Kaysville, and five grandchildren. |
