Show THIS WEEK IN MINERS7ILLW By GWEN I RYOR Word was received Sunday night that Tod Smith, 8 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Othello Smith Jr. of Trona, Calif., had been killed in a gun accident. Mr. Smith was taking his four sons rabbit hunting and three sons, Mark. Hal and Dan. were loading their guns in the back seat of the car when one of the guns discharged, the shot striking Tod in the back of the head. He died en route to a Barstnw hnsnital. 1'uneral services are scheci- e Mr. and Mrs. George Mar-quardson Mar-quardson and son Fred and daughter Ann of McGill called on Mrs. Jennie Marquardson last week at the Milford Valley Val-ley Hospital. A pink and blue shower was given Monday evening for Mrs. Joan Makin at the home of Mrs. Ilene Gray. Other hostesses host-esses were Mrs. Jolene Yard-ley Yard-ley and Mrs. Bernice Ashley. Games were played and a set salad, hot rolls and punch were served. j Prggy and Becky Davis of Las Vegas spent the week end at the home of parents Mr. and Mrs. Dan Davis. Peggy went to Salt Lake to receive treatment for ear trouble. Miss Diane Carter and her "fiance, Dennis Lowe, both BYU students, spent the week end at the home of her grandpar- uled for Thursday in Trona. Mrs. Gertrude Marsahll was transferred Tuesday from the Milford Valley Hospital to the LDS Hospital in Salt Lake for further back treatment. Mrs. Amanda Nolder will leave this week end for Arizona, Ari-zona, to spend the winter with her children, Mr. and Mrs. Brose Dalton in Mesa. Dr. and Mrs. Ira Lars.cn and Mr. and Mrs. Grant Pryor in Tucson. Mrs. Alba Carter was released re-leased Monday from the Milford Mil-ford Valley Hospital after receiving re-ceiving treatment for the flu. Mr. and Mrs. Lester Carter of McMinnville, Oregon, will remain for a while with her mother, Mrs. Inez Carter, after the death of Ilayward Carter. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Potter have moved to Salt Lake where he is employed by the Union Pacific. ents, Mr. and Mrs. Sheral Carter. Dr. and Mrs. Kent Myers and family of Cedar City spent the New Year holidays with his mother, Mrs. Gladys Myers. The Minersville MIA held tlv.-ir annual New Years Eve party in the church. A large crowd of boys and girls enjoyed en-joyed games, dancing and a delicious midnight lunch. Mrs. Ilene Craw supervised the games and dancing, assisted assist-ed by Mrs. Bernice Gillins, MIA director. Another Now Years Eve party was held in the Elementary Element-ary School. Many married couples welcomed the New I Year with dancing and a mid- ' night snack. |
