Show JEEP PATROL FINDS STRANDED DEER HUNTERS Three Milford youths who spent an uncomfortable night in the mountains were thankful thank-ful and relieved when members mem-bers of the Beaver County Sheriff's Jeep Patrol found them about 8:30 a. m. last Monday Mon-day after an 8-hour search. Garthe Banks, 17; Jim Rim-pau, Rim-pau, 16, and Nels Bedingfield, 16, left Milford at noon Sunday Sun-day to hunt deer in the area south of Minersville. When it became dark they were confused con-fused by tha main roads and trails in the area, and were unable to find a road leading back to Minersville. The motor of their pickup truck began "acting up" and they were unable to heat the cab. The boys built a fire and while one tended the blaze the other two slept on a mattress taken from the truck. When the fireman fire-man became sleepy, he aroused one of his companions. Eight units of the Jeep Patrol Pa-trol were called out about 11 p. m. Sunday when the youths failed to return. The patrol, under direction of Sheriff Mel Tait, started the search in the vicinity of the Davis cabin and finally located the youths about 8:30 a. m. in the Willow Springs area, 10 miles from the Davis cabin. The eight units were in constant radio communication, and searched dozens of roads, trails, washes and canyons. |
