Show BIG GAME BOARD MEETS IN CEDAR By Wes Bolton Monday night, the 24th, the Milford Wildlife was represented repre-sented by Roy Young, Richard Griffiths, Doug Gilliam. Thur-land Thur-land Sly, Dave Morris, Secretary Secre-tary Wes Bolton and President Bert Merrywather at the Big Game Board of Control meeting meet-ing in Cedar City, which turned out to be the stormiest session we have ever seen. One of the most notable changes was a definite softening soften-ing of attitude by the Interagency Inter-agency Committee on drastic hunts around the area. . Their only recommendation in this area was a late season special control hunt along the Parowan face where so many deer get killed each year by cars, and where they have been several new seedings in recent years which they want to protect from deer winter damage. They recommended complete closure of Oak City No. 53, and Terry-Ox Valley No. 61C. The latter was vigorously opposed (Continued on Back Page) to the F. & G. for processing, j It is doubtful if this will bear j fruit, but it planted a seed, at any rate. Now, you sportsmen, if you ; don't want your firearms registered reg-istered by the Federal Government Gov-ernment and then taxed out of existence you had better forget your TV, and your fishing fish-ing and other pursuits long enough to write Moss, Bennett, Burton and Lloyd, or you are in for some horrible surprises. i HERE'S MORE ABOUT FISH and GAME Continue from Pnpp Onp by the Dixie sportsmen, who claim a few bucks getting killed in the area will not hinder hin-der the recovery of this herd from the great slaughters and special hunts which these same Interagency boys demanded in the '40s and '50s. The sportsmen recommended a five-day (buck-only hunt on the Minerals, an 11-day buck-only buck-only on the South Beaver, an 11-day buck-only on the East Pine Valley, and complete closure of the West Desert, C2C (south of Highway 21 and west of the U. P. tracks). It is too early to tell, but the Board seemed to feel that some of these units need to have the herds built back up. A completely different recommendation rec-ommendation from those generally gener-ally heard in a Big Oa""1 Board meeting was made by the Milford sportsmen. The recommendation would provide a maximum fine of $299 and or 180 days in jail for the use of a spotlight for any purpose from a time 24 hours before the opening to 24 hours after the closing of any big game season. The question of Fish and Game harvest figures was also brought up, and it was recommended recom-mended that the questionnaire cards be mailed back to some responsible group other than the F. & G. Department. This group would examine the cards before they were turned over |
