McDonald william Mcdonald named head of long beach hospital A Milford High School graduate grad-uate has ibeen named Chief of Staff of the Long Beach, Calif., Hospital. William L. McDonald, M.D., son of Mr. and Mrs. A. L. McDonald of Milford, was .elected to the position on December De-cember 6. He graduated from Milford High School with the Class of"l946," arid after serving in the Armed Forces from 1946 to 1948, resumed his pre-med-ical studies at Weber College, Brigham Young University and University of Utah, and was graduated with honors from the University of Utah School of Medicine in 1955. His interneship was at St. Benedict's Hospital in Ogden. His residency and general medicine training was at Contra Con-tra Costa Hospital, Martinez, Calb!., from 1956 to 1958. Dr. McDonald practiced medicine med-icine in Northern California, then entered practice at Long Beach, where he lives with his wife Claire and their daughter Kathryn. Mrs. McDonald serves as her husband's medical assistant. as-sistant. Dr. McDonald has been active ac-tive in internal and general practice medicine at Memorial Hospital, Long Beach; served as chairman of the Clinical Pathological Clinic, and is a member of the Fetal Mortality Board. He also is teaching at Memorial Hospital, is a mem- ber of the staff of St. Mary's Hospital in Long Beach, and has served as secretary and vice chief of staff at Long Beach Hospital. Dr. McDonald instituted several sev-eral new advances in medical education, the latest concerning concern-ing post-cerebrovascular infarction in-farction with new concepts of physiotherapy, and he anticipates antici-pates further staff studies in post-coronary and post-operative therapy recovery phases. Further studies will be instituted insti-tuted concerning debilitation, cardiac collapse, and resuscita-tive resuscita-tive measures in operative and post-operative problems, he said. |
