Show NEW GARDEN GUIDE OFFERED BY ESPLIN When, where and how to plant a home garden are all covered in a new Utah State University Extension Service publication now available at the county agent's office. Extension Circular 337, "Vegetable "Veg-etable Garden Guide," written by Arvil L. Stark, points out that growing is a pleasurable diversion. In addition, Dr. Stark says, gardening provides exercise for members of the family, saves money on the grocery bill, and the "vegetables "vege-tables cooked fresh from the garden are more delicious to eat." The new circular has information infor-mation on soil preparation, seeds, time of planting, depth, thinning, spacing, rotation, watering, weeding and fertilizing. ferti-lizing. The publication has a home garden pest control chart compiled com-piled by Dr. George F. Knowl-ton, Knowl-ton, and one on recommended varieties of garden vegetables by Anson B. Call Jr. Circular 337 also contains a list of average dates of killing frosts in Utah and colored photographs pho-tographs of some of the common com-mon garden pests. |
