Show BILL ASHWORTH MAKES LAST RUN William M. ("Bill") Ash- worth "put the caboose" to his railroading career last Sunday vhen he made his final run, as engineer on Union Pacific passenger train No. 6 on the run from Milford to Salt Lake. He had been employed by the Union Pacific for 45 years. Mr. Ashworth was born in Bevaer Oct. 20, 1900, and moved to Milford in 1917. He was employed by Jefferson Mercantile Co. until 1921, when he accepted employment with Pacific Fruit Express. In 1922 he was employed by Union Pacific Pa-cific as a fireman, and was promoted to engineer in January, Jan-uary, 1941. For three years he was secretary of the Brotherhood Brother-hood of Locomotive Engineers for Division 681. Mr. Ashworth married Ruby G. Furniss of Pocatello, Idaho, Dec. 15, 1925, in Beaver. They have two sons and a daughter, Don B. Ashworth, Monty R. Ashworth, and Mrs. Cherie M. Myers. Mr. and Mrs. Ashworth moved from Milford to Salt Lake in 1966. |
