Show WILDLIFE GROUP MEETS IN CEDAR By Wes Bolton The Utah Wildlife Federation held a board meeting in Cedar City Saturday the 24th. Their object in coming down south so. far was to entice the six clubs in Southern Utah who are not now affiliated. At the present time Milford and Richfield Rich-field are the only affiliates south of Utah County. If the sportsmen of Southern Utah would only realize it, they must affiliate with the State Federation in order to get the feelings of the rank and file spotrsmen felt in Salt Lake City where it counts. Most notable action of the meeting was action comemnd-ing comemnd-ing the Forest Service for their assurance that if the High Uintah Primitive Area is placed in Wilderness status, they will allow some of the common practices of the Primitive Area, specifically fish planting by airplane. In the same action ac-tion upon motion of Director Wes Bolton, the Federation opposed op-posed the Utah Water and Power Board's professed intention inten-tion to ask for a delay in placing plac-ing the High Uintahs under the protection of the Wilderness Act, account they wished fur-j fur-j ther time to study as to whether wheth-er they will need more water or water impoundments in that area. This is contrary to the Utah Wildlife Federation policy pol-icy which is that too much water has been withdrawn now from the pending Central Utah Project. |
