J AMERICAN LEGION SALUTES MILFORD'S SERVICE FAMILIES An attractive red and blue window decal, bearing the words "The American Legion Salutes a Service Family," will be presented to more than 45 Milford and South Milford homes by Milford Post No. 16 of The American Legion. First to receive the decal were Mr. and Mrs. Warren Johnson, whose son Chad, latest Milford youth to enter military service, recently enlisted in the Paratroops. "This decal has been prepared as a gesture of compassion com-passion as The American Legion, for the third time in as many decades, finds itself in the important role of mustering support for our nation's avowed purpose of defending freedom," said Enoch Swain, post commander. "Related to that role is a job for which no other organization organi-zation is better equipped or organized or-ganized . . . the expression of America's deep appreciation of the task undertaken by today's servicemen and the uplift of morale of both the serviceman and his loved ones at home." As more Americans don the uniform of their -country, as more American troops become committed to the field of combat. com-bat. The American Legion's vast resources of experiences experiences gained in previous combat hecome vital to the success of the national purpose, Commander Swain said. "The American Legion is well aware of the anxieties, the doubts, the frustrations and the needs of today's new generation gen-eration of war veterans, and the families of these veterans," he continued. "With these small decals, the members of Milford Post 16 hope to convey to the families of men now serving their country, the respect re-spect and admiration of those , who previously served." |
