He receive his "Wings" and officers commission commis-sion in 1955 ai d graduated with a BS degree in Aeronautical Engineering in 1962. Major Hess is married to the.- former Mar-jorie Mar-jorie Burnett of Salt Lake City; they have five children. The Region 8 High School Awards Banquet is an annual affair sponsored by KSUB Radio, The Iron County Record and the SUSC Quarterback Club. REGION8 AWARDS BANQUET IN CEDAR CITY APRIL 25 Major Jay Hess, recently returned re-turned Vietnam prisoner f war, will be the guest speaker at the Region 8 High School Awards Banquet. The Banquet will be held April 25th at 7 p.m. at the Town and Country Restaurant. In addition to the address given by Major Hess, trophies will be presented by KSUB Radio to the Region 8 players and coaches of the year in football, wrestling and basketball. bas-ketball. Major Hess was the pilot of an F-105-D which was shot down August 24th, 1967, while on a flight from Thailand. He was released by the Viet-Ccng on March 14, 1973 after spending spend-ing almost 6 years as a prisoner of war. He was born in Ogden, May 9, 1930, grew up in Davis County, played football at and |
