The theme of the Center is "Elk Management in Utah" using us-ing the Cache elk herd as an example. There are seven displays dis-plays ranging from life history of the elk herd to its management. manage-ment. The Center is unique in that people can learn about the herd, then experience the ani mals thrcugh the view of the meadow from the window and sleigh rides out to the herd. Hardware Ranch was developed devel-oped primarily to keep elk off the Cache V alley foothills where they caused agricultural damage. Some 23,300 persons visited the ranch last winter. Persons from every state and several foreign countries have visited the ranch since the Division Di-vision purchased it in 1946. Visitors are welcome at the ranch, and there Is no charge. 1IARDWARE SLEIGH SEASON OPENS Sleigh riding season at Hardware Hard-ware Ranch has arrived. Visitors are riding in tne h-rse-drawn sleighs to the meadow mea-dow where elk feed daily. Ric'es are being conducted from 1 to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday Thurs-day and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday through Sunday. The sleighs will be in operation on New Year's Day. The new Visitor's Center on the hill overlooking the ranch is open to the public concurrently concur-rently with the sleigh rides and will remain open until 5 p.m. daily.
