Show NEW SCHOLARSHIP FOR CHILDREN OF VI' EMPLOYEES A new scholarship program for children of Union Pacific Railroad employes has been nn-nounced nn-nounced by Glen L. Farr. vice president-labor relations for tne compajiy. Starting with the 1972-73 school year, Union Pacific Railroad Rail-road will offer 25 renewable scholarships of $400.00 each to outstanding graduating high school seniors who are sons or daughters of UP employes. Candidates for the scholarships scholar-ships must" be seniors in high school, rank in the upper one-fourth one-fourth of their class at the time of application and meet all admission requirements of the college or university selected. Scholarship selections will be made by a committee composed com-posed of two leading educators not associated with Union Pacific Pa-cific Railroad and two UP representatives. rep-resentatives. Award winners will be announced on April 1 each year. Farr pointed out that Union Pacific Railroad has been actively ac-tively involved for more than 50 years in helping young people peo-ple obtain a college education. The UP scholarship program begun in 1921, was originally designed to aid in the advancement advance-ment of agricultural education. Over the years, more than a million dollars in scholarship aid has been given by the Union Pacific Railroad to out-, standing graduating high school seniors. |
