Show I 4 Well the Governor didn't show last Saturday at the Minersville Min-ersville State Park dedication but enough politicians showed up to perform the ribbon cutting. cut-ting. With the wind blowing fairly fair-ly well Sen. Thorpe Wad-dingham Wad-dingham told about the dedication dedi-cation of the Interstate Freeway north of Beaver City a few years ago seems it was a cold wintery day and nobodyi showed up but the politicians on the platform who were to speak and the Mayor of Beaver. Beav-er. He said "You know, durned if we didn't stand there and make our five minute speaehes to each other." Well with an election year, I'll suppose we'll be getting a lot of that. Say! Don't miss out on that giant color tv speil sale at SMR, prices like that won't last. We attended a meeting of the Centennial Committee last week and we'd like to caution all organizations to check with the committee before making plans for 1973 they have a lot of good plans and not only will hey be expecting your helpt but may be able to help you coordinate your functions to the betterment of the centennial cen-tennial and your individual organization. or-ganization. It won't hurt to check first. The kids came a running to me Tuesday, saying, "hey dad! you're in the funny papers." This we've been accused of many times, sometimes when it wasn't so funny, this time though it seems Dagwood had a card playing buddy named "Red Wilson." Donna, I promise prom-ise it isn't me. Mrs. Hughes is again to be congratulated for the fine job she did in setting up and organizing or-ganizing the "Miss Teenage" pageant Monday night and the program along with it. Very intertaining and a credit to the community. Our back door neighbor won the "Miss Teenage Milford" title. Connie will be an asset to the community wherever she goes to represent us. And I can't think of a jirl who gets more exposure. She's active in so many organizations, school activities, a cheerleader and all such things. Congratulations ConnieJ After our exposure to the politicians last Saturday we went back to the Stock Show and got a few pictures. We had a couple of our youngsters with us and they wanted to eat. We never pass a chance to sample the delicacies of those Minersville Women. It doesn't matter which organization they are working for at the time, you can count on excellent fare and your money's worth. Saturday Sat-urday it was the Legion Auxiliary, Auxil-iary, I believei and they put out a whale of a plate, potato sal-al, sal-al, hamburger, pickles and pie and ice cream for only 85c. Next Wednesday (darn it won't be able to make that one) under the auspices o the Beaver County Cattlemen's Club will offer up the condiments condi-ments to go with Grant Es-plin's Es-plin's barbecued steaks to wind up the Cattlemen's tour at Ralph Pearson's Ranch north of town. Speaking of Ralph he asked me to thank everyone who contributed in anyway to the stock show last Saturday. In that wind they are to be commended. Word's out, but as of press time we couldn't confirm the exact date, but Little League starts next week. Don't forget the zoning meeting meet-ing in Beaver on May 31. It's on Pine Creek. |
