Show WEED SUPERVISORS MEET FOR USU WORKSHOP County weed co.ntrol leaders from over the state participated in a Weed Supervisors Workshop Work-shop held in March at Utah State University. Under direction direc-tion of the County Commissioners Commission-ers and the County Weed Boards, these persons are largely large-ly responsible for the control of noxious weeds in the county. coun-ty. Representing Beaver County Coun-ty at the workshop was Max Price of Milford, County Weed Supervisor. They learned they have a major responsibility for carrying carry-ing out the new Utah Noxious Weed Act. It gives authority to enforce the control of noxious nox-ious weeds. This authority includes the posting of "general notices to control noxious weeds," and serving "individual notices to control noxious weeds" as directed di-rected by the county weed board and the county commis- sioners. Besides learning their duties and responsibilities, the weed supervisors were informed about methods of weed controil and received basic information about the various weeds including includ-ing kinds, types of roots, length of life and factors of weed identificatio.n. They also learned about various herbicides and their use and weed control on roads and highways. |
