Smith will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday, June 13, with an open house in their home from 2 to 6 p. m. . They request no gifts. Joseph Charles Smith was born in Pleasant Grove in 1893 and came to Milford with his family in. 1901. He has resided here since that time He was one of the early school teachers in Milford. He was employed by the Milford State Bank in 1920 and is presently pres-ently the bank's Executive Vice President. Mr. Smith was president of the Beaver County Board of Education for more than 20 years. A lifetime member of the LDS Church, he is now serving in the Stake Presidency of the Beaver Stake. He has been a member of the Milford Lions Club for 30 years. He served on the 60-man Committee on Education appointed ap-pointed by the Governor. Mrs. Emma Daugherty Smith was born March 18, 1894, in Cedar City. She has been active ac-tive in affairs of the local LDS Church, and has served in every auxiliary organization. Mrs. Smith has also been very active in community and civic projects. Mr. and Mrs. Smith were married in Ogden, June 15, 1914. They have one son, four daughters, 19 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. |
