Show TIPS FROM THE COUNTY AGENT Machine Sheds Are Important On Farm Machine sheds are an excellent excel-lent investment for any farmer, farm-er, says Wayne B. Ringer, Extension Ex-tension Agriculture Engineer with the Utah State University. Universi-ty. They not only protect expensive ex-pensive implements from rain, snow and sun, but they provide pro-vide a place to keep lubricating lubricat-ing equipment, parts and small tools. When you consider that most farm machines are used only a few days each year, it is understandable un-derstandable why off - season protection is important. One of the main' advantages received re-ceived from machinery ownership owner-ship is being able to get seasonal sea-sonal farm operations done at the proper time. This advantage advant-age is lost when equipment is poorly maintained. Vital moving mov-ing parts should not be allowed to rust. Many years of service serv-ice have been built into equipment, equip-ment, but much of this is lost through improper care. A well-equipped machinery shop pays dividends, too. When these facilities are close at hand, necessary repairs can be made with a minimum of lost time and often at a considerable consider-able savings. Many farmers have trouble keeping track of their tools and are discouraged discour-aged about owning expensive repair equipment because of the losses they experience. Tools which are kept in a well organized farm shop are usually usu-ally available when needed, and can be placed under lock if necessary. |
