Show April Was 'Big Month' For US Bond Sales Total sales of U.S. Savings Bonds in Utah for the first four months of the bond program's pro-gram's 20th Anniversary year reached $6,747,949, it was announced an-nounced today by J. C. Smith, Cashier, Milford State Bank, and Sam Hickman, Beaver City Bank Cashier, county chairmen. Utah sales during the month of April were $1,493,134. Beaver Bea-ver County's purchases accounted ac-counted for $ 6,076 bringing the county's 4-month total to $23,565, or 33.7 of its 1961 sales goal. "While we are observing the savings bonds program's 20th birthday throughout the year," the chairmen pointed out, "we are' paying special tribute during dur-ing May to newspapers, radios, television and the advertising and entertainment industries, for the great contribution they have made to the success of the program during the past 20 years." The Chairmen also mentioned men-tioned that "press reports reaching our State Office indicates in-dicates that Americans in many parts of the country are showing show-ing their confidence in 'Uncle Sam' and their patrotic desire to support our nation's further ventures into space, by buying extra U.S. Savings Bonds. We urge the citizens of this area to do likewise to invest in 'shares in America', the finest investment in the world. 'You save more than money when you buy U.S. Savings Bonds.' " |
