Show 250,000 Mormon Youth To Hear Messages From Church Leaders A quarter-million Mormon teen agers will assemble across North America in 200 mass meetings Sunday, Oct. 2, to hear a message mes-sage by David O. McKay, 87 year old president of the LDS Church, opening a year-long "firesidS talk" series. A network using 20,000 miles of closed circuit lines will carry the program "live" to 175 church centers in Western America and Canada. An additional 25 locations loca-tions in the United States, Europe and Oceana will hear pre-recorded Preident McKay' address. Beaver County Explorers, Mia Maids, Ensigns, Laurels, M-Men and Gleaners and young marrieds will meet in the Beaver Bea-ver First-Third Ward Church to hear the talk. Entitled "Determining Your Own Future," the talk will be presented at 8 p. m. in each time zone, following hour-long locally-prepared locally-prepared programs in each assembly. as-sembly. His address will launch a series of 12 monthly "fireside" talks by church leaders. The recorded talks will be played for neighborhood neighbor-hood Sunday evening discussion groups of young people meeting in living rooms and churches in many parts of the world. The kick-off program will be held in the famed Mormon Tabernacle Tab-ernacle in Salt Lake before an audience of thousands of Salt Lake City youth. |
