Show MISS UTAH OF I960 VISITS IN BEAVER Miss Utah of 1960, Marian Walker of Salt Lake City, who was chosen June 18 to represent our state at the Miss America Pageant in Atlantic City, was in Beaver Friday, and, following a tour of Beaver business places, including in-cluding The Press, expressed herself her-self as very much pleased with Beaver. Though she had passed through Beaver in the past, this was her first opportunity to really "get acquainted," she said. She brought with her Utah's newest "Princess" in the form of an entirely en-tirely new telephone being presented pre-sented to the public for the Mountain Moun-tain States Telephone Company. Miss Walker is the next to youngest in a family of four. She is the daughter of Mrs. Emma Walker of Holladay, who was widowed when Marian was four years of age. Miss Walker is an alumna of the University. Her recreational re-creational activities consist of singing, sing-ing, swimming, and both water and snow skiing. The "Princess" telephone she is demonstrating for the telephone company was created to use in any room. It is oval-shaped and revolutionary revo-lutionary in every respect. It is one-third smaller than the present phone and is equipped with a night light that glows softly in the dark when the telephone is not in use and comes into full' brilliance when the handset is lifted to place or receive a call. Colors for the "Princess" have been selected carefully selected to be compatible compati-ble with any room decoration. It comes in white, pink, beige, blue, or turquoise, which all are versatile, versa-tile, soft colors suitable for installation instal-lation in any home or office. In the development stage for five years, "The Princess" is the sixth major telephone instrument improvement since Alexander Graham Gra-ham Bell's original invention in 1876. ' During her visit, Miss Utah extended ex-tended an invitation to the people peo-ple of the Beaver area to visit their telephone office and see the newest new-est instrument in telephony. Accompanying Miss Walker, who also was named Princess by the telephone company on her statewide state-wide tour are Miss Jean Clements; W. 0. Jacobs, marketing manager; Mack Lawrence, district manager; Howard L. Blood, public relations manager; and Gerald E. Vickers, Beaver County manager for the I telephone company. |
