Show Getting Acquainted With the Little League - Little League is one of the most dynamic movements of our time! It is a means of realizing happiness hap-piness in local communities through families enjoying the pleasures of working and playing together. As a baseball program for boys under 13 years of age, it has revitalized re-vitalized the finest traditions of the game in character and concept; it has become a vital force in shaping shap-ing the future of a million youngsters young-sters each year. It has provided new ways of helping boys through the combined efforts of many people peo-ple working together to promote ideals of fair play, leadership, and teamwork. Little League Baseball is geared to provide an outlet of healthful activity and a training under good leadership in the atmosphere of wholesome community participation. participa-tion. Little League is dedicated to helping boys become good and decent de-cent citizens. It strives to inspire them with a goal and to enrich their lives toward the day when they must take their places in the world. It teaches them the necessity neces-sity of team work and fair play. Little League enhances the welfare of the community and the nation through benefits to the boy and his family. There are a number of factors which must be considered before a boy can become a member of Little League. He must be not less than nine years of age and must not reach his 13th birthday before August 1 of this year. He must live within the physical boundaries described for the local league and must have parental consent. All registered boys must have an opportunity to take part in the league's tryouts for eventual selection se-lection to teams. These tryouts will be held during the first part of May, and further notice will be given in this paper before the tryouts try-outs are to be held. Boys who are not selected for the league teams, or perhaps lack sufficient suf-ficient maturity, skills, or other attributes, at-tributes, may be retained in the "minor league" program for further fur-ther training for future years, |
